happy weekend #2

Yesterday was one of those days, where I just wanted to write one simple little post, and ended up getting completely distracted by other things. So having actually forgotten what the initial plan was I've decided to share all the cool stuff I found yesterday!

I came across Franz Falckenhaus the other day on flickr and as I am a little bit obsessed with mixed media collages and the stories they tell, I just had to share him with you.

Not only is Mr. Kate's jewellery just totally fun but I really also like this shoot done for the lookbook of her  latest collection Days of Ore.

The Mulleavy sisters are just so super creative and amazingly talented. This month they curated A MAGAZINE CURATED BY RODARTE, in which they used another super talented youngster, Elle Fanning, in Rodarte SS12 shot by Bill Owens.

There's also Kirsten Dunst, showcasing Rodarte AW11, shot by New York photographer David Armstrong. I just love the whole dreamy feeling you get when looking at this shoot.

It's so hard to believe that this girl is 15. This is part of a shoot she did for the site Style like u. This is another great site which showcases the freedom of expression through personal style.

The idea behind ten songs that saved your life is to ask artists, musicians, writers, designers about the ten songs that saved their lives. Thought it only appropriate to share the play list of the Mulleavy sisters.

And to all my friends in Paris, tonight is the launch of L'annuel, a 136-page printed magazine, the pluridisciplinary companion to the Sound Pellegrino Festival 2012. It is described as "Us and our friends, trying to predict the near future in architecture, cinema, politics, music, communication, health and many others fields, how to adapt —and sometimes being really silly at it"

Have a fantastic easter!

Quentin Jones you are my hero

Quentin Jones, you are my hero and when I grow up I want to be just like you. I was meant to blog about this amazeeeng illustrator, animator and film maker ages ago and I just completely forgot and left all these images to gain electronic dust on my desktop. Quentin Jones, who is based in London, comes up with the most fascinating collages that one can just spend hours being entertained by, and her films are so rad! Bling bling Barbie

I'm sure I am not alone when I tell you that when I was little it came to a point where my mom had to hide my sisters dolls, which were mostly Barbies, because I used to enjoy giving them make-overs. I was most famous for my dreadful haircuts, but then again as far as a 3 year old's imagination went, I didn't understand why their hair didn't grow back?

When I was little I used to pop the heads off of my Barbies. I also used to cut their hair   short and give them mustaches, but that’s a whole other story...

Well as a jewellery designer, Margaux Lange, might still pop their heads off and cut their hands off but all for the sake of jewellery in which we can celebrate her's as well as pop culture icon, BARBIE.

a night of a 1000 drawings

Last night I finally went to my first night of a 1000 drawings and I even helped out as a volunteer (pat on the back).  For those of you not in the know this is what it's all about:

"1000 Drawings is a one night exhibition made possible by everybuddy out there donating a5 drawings to paballo ya batho (an inner city homeless care organisation) who sells the drawings to the public for R100. All are welcome to donate drawings to make a difference, from novice to pro. Draw anything, with anything on anything A5."
It was a great evening which took part in Braamfontein at The Grove and across the road at (my new favourite Saturday hangout) the Neigbourgoods Market.
The vibe was awesome and everybody was there to support a good cause!

This last one is one of the pictures I bought and I just love it absolutely love it!
