Freunde von Freunden

You know how sometimes you can find an awesome site and forget to bookmark it and totally let the name slip by you, well that what happened with this site. I found it about a year ago and for a whole entire day (in between the tedious tasks of my then job) I was staring at these apartment shoots and dreaming of living in a big flat in Berlin (the size of apartments here are much to be desired). I finally rediscovered the site and am happy to see that they have expanded there apartment shoots and are doing more cities than Berlin ( I love apartment shoots!). Like most successful sites there's they have also just published a book on their Berlin shoots, yeah!

Excess in total equilibrium

I am one of those people who when they fly takes all the free magazines, whether it is the ones offered at the airport or on the plane, the results are that I get home at least a kilo heavier than i was after checking my bags in. I never end up reading these free little joys of entertainment and then it finally ends in the trash 2 months later having half read  maybe a total of 2 articles. Well this time I told myself, you can take the magazines if you read them and then leave them and so that is what I did, I read them and whatever I really enjoyed I made notes of to follow up further.

I could not help but turn back to the article on Alain Delorme's Urban Totems, there was just something about these pictures which entertained my eyes for a great part of the flight. For the artist it was to find a way between the absurdity of the materialist world and mankind's age old dream of reaching for something higher while keeping the wheel turning.

mad men

I came across these vintage photo's in the life magazine archives by photographer Lisa Larsen. They kind of reminded me of Madmen, a show I've only recently started watching, yes I know 5 seasons late, but hey rather late than never.

wednesday things #2

here are a few things I like at the moment:

Closet visit - Home and studio visits is the latest trend to have hit the blogisphere. I think it works so well in part because of curiosity.

Therese Sennerholts - I've been lliking these graphic prints for a while no, simple and easy yet effective

things organised neatly - i had to stop myself from not reblogging the whole entire tumblr

Bryan Adams - we all know him for the summer of '69 but he's photography is even better

Cocoon by Meg&Dia - I think it was more the cover which drew my attention at first, but I actually really like the album too

Return to Giverny

If there is ever one regret of something I have still not done whilst living here in France, it would have to be that I have still not visited the wonderous world of Monet, Giverny. I'd like to blame it on the extremely short duration of spring and summer combined, but in the end it boils down to poorly executed weekend plans and travels everywhere but there.  If Monet had not already convinced me, this extremely young and super talented photographer, Erik Madigan Heck, has definately made me pray that this weekend is beautiful and  sunny for a visit to the lilly ponds.
