Meet The Muggies

I recently launched a jewellery collection, The Muggies, inspired by my blog where I share my craze for fashion, obscure little market haunts, vintage finds, mini breaks and love for music and food.

It’s on these adventures where I fill up my treasure trove with vintage jewellery pieces, broken bags, offcuts of lace, odd pairs of earings, sheets of old buttons basically anything you can imagine.
The Muggies were born due to overflowing drawers of treasures, and all these odd pieces have been given a new lease on life.

A day with Jessica Weiss

A while back I wrote a post on Lucy Chadwick who was filmed by The Selby for Zara. I really enjoyed her story, style and if you remember especially her appartment.  Now H&M have also started with an 'H&M life' video campaign and first up is Germany's fashion blog darling Jessica Weiss.
She originally started LesMads blog, followed with a short stint as executive online editor for Interview Magazine and has recently launched her new blogazine project, Journelles. The only downside of this site is that I don't speak nor read German, I hope it will be available in english sometime soon?

She definately has a great sense of style and I can identify with so much she says in this video, especially when mentioning that if she has a lack of inspiration when getting dressed she always takes something comfortable. Maybe that sounds lazy to some, but really when it get's down to it if you feel comfortable it will just project a sense of confidence on the outside.
I also agree with her philosphy of being able to mix fast fashion with luxury. One doesn't need to have loads of designer items to be regarded as fashionable or stylish.

From Jozi with Love...

If there was ever a prize for the best non active blogger, I would be sure to win hands down. But I do however have a good reason(s). Two months ago I gave up the streets of Paris for the African sun. As if the move wasn't strenuous enough, I decided to not only launch my own jewellery label, but also a 'on the side' vintage label. Overambitious much? oh yes, and did I mention my computer crashing? Although they managed to practically recover all my files (hallelujah!) my whole computer is a mess and it's almost like a scavenger hunt tracking down certain images.

As a result, there is so much I want to share, that I should've shared already, but better late than never I guess? So in the next few weeks I will be digging a bit in the past as well as showcasing the present.

Muggie Teaser

This past weekend we shot the Muggie collars from my Mizz Muggie jewellery range.
We're still busy editing, but thought I would post a blurry little teaser of what's to come!

watch this space for the range in the next few days!

Love's story

One of my favourite designers by far is Pamela Love. I love her jewellery and her oh so totally bohemian way of dressing. So it would come as no surprise that when she got married, she would design her own fabulous jewellery (duh!) and look like an absolute gypsy queen.

happy weekend #2

Yesterday was one of those days, where I just wanted to write one simple little post, and ended up getting completely distracted by other things. So having actually forgotten what the initial plan was I've decided to share all the cool stuff I found yesterday!

I came across Franz Falckenhaus the other day on flickr and as I am a little bit obsessed with mixed media collages and the stories they tell, I just had to share him with you.

Not only is Mr. Kate's jewellery just totally fun but I really also like this shoot done for the lookbook of her  latest collection Days of Ore.

The Mulleavy sisters are just so super creative and amazingly talented. This month they curated A MAGAZINE CURATED BY RODARTE, in which they used another super talented youngster, Elle Fanning, in Rodarte SS12 shot by Bill Owens.

There's also Kirsten Dunst, showcasing Rodarte AW11, shot by New York photographer David Armstrong. I just love the whole dreamy feeling you get when looking at this shoot.

It's so hard to believe that this girl is 15. This is part of a shoot she did for the site Style like u. This is another great site which showcases the freedom of expression through personal style.

The idea behind ten songs that saved your life is to ask artists, musicians, writers, designers about the ten songs that saved their lives. Thought it only appropriate to share the play list of the Mulleavy sisters.

And to all my friends in Paris, tonight is the launch of L'annuel, a 136-page printed magazine, the pluridisciplinary companion to the Sound Pellegrino Festival 2012. It is described as "Us and our friends, trying to predict the near future in architecture, cinema, politics, music, communication, health and many others fields, how to adapt —and sometimes being really silly at it"

Have a fantastic easter!

I would love...

..to have a big flared out leather skirt like this. A while ago, on some blog somewhere (can't remember) I saw a girl with the most loveliest brown long leather skirt and since then i've been obsessed with finding the most perfectest of perfect leather skirts. This one comes pretty close, but I think my bank account and I will have to find one we can both agree on, so for now I'll just stare at this picture and imagine myself in this skirt.

Le Xeme

Remember Mathilde, well on top of being a graphic designer and illustrator, she also does really cool interiors for really cool bars. Here are some pics of a bar called Le Xeme (in the 10th) in Paris which she did.

this is amy.

Whilst on one of those internet surfing missions, when you actually get so lost you forget what your initial reason for being there was, I found Amy. She is an illustrator, designer and pattern maker from Melbourne who creates all manners of things. Wouldn't mind having a few of these.

She also has a really cool blog called all the mountains, go have a looksie!
